SANTA ROSA–On Monday, June 30, the New Mexico Foundation for Open Government joined the Office of the New Mexico Attorney Journal in Santa Rosa at the Blue Hole Center for the quarterly AG’s Sunshine Law Training. More than 60 people attended the three hour program, including elected officials, public employees, candidates for public office and citizens.
Susan Boe, executive director of NMFOG, and Assistant Attorney Generals Mary Smith and Mona Valicenti spoke to the group about open meetings, public records and the First Amendment. A similar program was held in Espanola during Sunshine Week and attracted a standing room only crowd. The AGO Roadshow is held three or four times per year.
NMFOG is available for sunshine law training throughout the state of New Mexico. In April, Ms. Boe spoke to county and city officials in Maxwell, New Mexico and to journalists in Grants, New Mexico. The training seminars are available at no charge.
