Thank you to everyone who came out to our Las Cruces and Albuquerque Transparency Summer Camps! We hope you enjoyed the camps and found them informative.
The New Mexico Foundation for Open Government partnered with the New Mexico Press Association, the Society of Professional Journalists Rio Grande Chapter and New Mexico In Depth to host Transparency Summer Camp: How to find and use government data online. We also want to thank the Thornburg Foundation for funding the seminars.
Presenters included New Mexico In Depth’s premier data journalist Sandra Fish, along with FOG’s executive director Susan Boe. Ms. Fish covered tips and tricks for following online government information to track campaign contributions and candidate spending. We also examined how to use web-based databases, like the Sunshine Portal, to find and use public records. Finally, Ms. Boe discussed recent Inspection of Public Records Act developments and how to fine-tune IPRA requests.
Watch a video recording of our Las Cruces Camp here! If you missed the seminars, or would like to more closely review the presentations, you can view Sandra Fish’s presentation slides here and Susan Boe’s PowerPoint is available to download here.
We hope to host similar events in the future across the state!
