Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, Cyber Monday and now Giving Tuesday
We have a day for giving thanks, days for scoring deals, and now we have a day dedicated to giving back!
This Tuesday, pledge to support nonprofits and charities by coming together with family, friends and coworkers to make a gift that will help others. We at FOG are a member-supported organization, and we could not do our work protecting your right to know without your generosity.
For any charity to operate effectively, they need access to public records and information. For example, an organization serving homeless veterans may need data showing the number of combat veterans living below the poverty line. Anti-drunk driving nonprofits may need police reports and average blood-alcohol levels of offenders who cause accidents. Food pantries need FDA recall information to ensure the food they distribute to hungry families is safe. Furthermore, organizations and citizens need to be able to attend public meetings and have the right to comment and speak out on behalf of the causes and people they serve.
FOG is on the frontlines, defending Sunshine Laws by educating, advocating and sometimes litigating for improved transparency and greater access to information. You can help guarantee that charities, businesses and the general public stay informed. Join FOG this Giving Tuesday and take pride in protecting the right to know!
