2) Calling a closed meeting outside an open meeting

Topic Progress:

Occasionally a public body may need to meet only to discuss a topic that is covered by one of the exceptions to the Open Meetings Act. In that case, the public body must give public notice under the Act, stating the specific provision of the law authorizing the closed meeting and stating with reasonable specificity the subject to be discussed. NMSA 1978 § 10-15-1-I(2)

When notice is properly given, the closed meetings may take place without having an open session before or after the meeting.
