The Open Meetings Act requires that the public receive reasonable notice of all regular meetings and any closed meetings. A meeting subject to OMA cannot be held without prior notice to the public. NMSA 1978 § 10-15-D
Although OMA does not define what constitutes reasonable notice to the public, the New Mexico Attorney General has stated that in most instances,10 days prior notice is reasonable for regular meetings, three days prior notice for special meetings while 24 hours’ notice generally is sufficient for emergency meetings.
