Winston Brooks never received APS investigation report

(Albuquerque)–Today the New Mexico Foundation for Open Government received a response from the Albuquerque Public School Board in connection with its Inspection of Public Records request filed on September 18.  In its most recent IPRA request, FOG sought: 1) any documents reflecting how or when the investigation report issued by Agnes Padilla was provided to Winston Brooks, Ann Brooks or their attorney; 2) and any statement read to or given by Dr. Analee Masestas to any APS board members or to Winston Brooks in regard to hiring an attorney to investigate rumors concerning Mr. Brooks.  For a copy of the NMFOG records request, click here.

In his email to FOG this morning, Rigo Chavez, APS records custodian, said the report was never provided to Winston or Ann Brooks otheir attorneys and therefore no documents were responsive to FOG’s request.  Also in connection with the September 18 IPRA, Chavez delivered to FOG a statement that was read by APS Board President Dr. Maestas to individual APS Board members via telephone during the late evening of July 18, 2014, and to Superintendent Brooks the following morning. The public still does not know any of the reasons that APS and Superintendent Brooks entered into a settlement agreement under which Brooks was paid $350,000 in return for his immediate resignation.
