Summary:
The FOG Executive Director is responsible for all administrative, fundraising, community outreach, advocacy, communication and financial responsibilities as outlined below. This person will be charged with a wide range of responsibilities from responding to hotline inquiries related to New Mexico’s inspection of public records act and open meeting laws along with posting regularly on social media, providing seminars related to data access and acting as a spokesperson. FOG is a 501(c)3 organization.
Communication:
The Executive Director must have strong oral and written communication skills as he/she will be responsiblefor FOG’s monthly newsletter, all social media activities, all print and electronic collateral/news releases as well as acting as FOG’s spokesperson. A general knowledge of media operations and comfortable speaking to the public.
Financial/Fundraising:
The Executive Director is responsible for all fundraising, including grant-writing, planning events and completing a current “capital” campaign to raise funds for a full-time FOG attorney. In addition, the Executive Director oversees the day-to-day financial operations of FOG and works with the Board, Treasurer and the financial committee to keep FOG financially healthy and in good standing. This includes maintaining FOG’s financial data and filing necessary government records, planning, purchasing, receipts, disbursements, and analysis, creating annual budget and exercising control of the budget and all arrangements to meet financial objectives and ensuring that all of FOG’s funds, physical assets and other property are appropriately administered, maintained and safeguarded.
Advocacy:
The Executive Director regularly engages with local and state government officials and manages, oversees, and advocates for open government legislation at the state capitol. Familiarity with access to public records and related legislation highly desirable.
