FOG and 50+ organizations call for police records transparency

The New Mexico Foundation for Open Government joined more than 50 organizations in signing a statement that calls for states to enact reforms opening every aspect of the police misconduct oversight process to public scrutiny.

FOG, the  National Freedom of Information Coalition, of which FOG is a member, and the Brechner Center for Freedom of Information ask for more public oversight in law enforcement. Such immediate reforms are a beginning to identify and remedy secrecy throughout the criminal justice system that corrodes public confidence and trust.
